Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate that is very effective as a daily dietary supplement. It can be consumed alone or added to any other combination of protein and other supplements. It’s especially effective for pre workout and during exercise consumption as it digests easily and provides a longer, more sustained energy burn.
Unlike simple sugars that give you a blood sugar spike then fade quickly, corn Maltodextrin powder gives you a nice, steady blood sugar rise that stabilizes for a longer period of time. As well, it empties from your stomach without having to pull fluid from your gut and tissues which is less stressful on your body. ProteinCo recommends you mix it with your choice of other protein powders and powdered supplements we sell to meet your specific needs.
GLUTEN FREE COMPLEX CARBS FROM CORN!
Why choose Maltodextrin as an energy supplement?
Your muscles need glycogen to function at high intensities. When you deplete them, there is nothing left to fuel your body but fat and muscle tissue. These aren’t good short term energy sources and you certainly don’t want to cannibalize your muscles to fuel your workouts. Maltodextrin powder can be the fuel for your high intensity efforts when your muscles are low or completely out of glycogen. Making a during workout drink to sip on during any workout or competition can spare you the “bonk” that happens when your body runs out of your most instant source of fuel. Relying on protein alone will be self-critiquing when you are sluggish and can’t finish your workouts. Choose complex carbohydrates in the form of Maltodextrin from ProteinCo and you will reap the rewards.
What Maltodextrin can do for you
Complex carbohydrates digest easier than simple sugars which is a key to avoiding an upset stomach. If you suffer from stomach distress during your workouts, it could be simple sugars that are causing the problem. Try more complex carbs like Maltodextrin to see if you can solve this distress. Another primary benefit of high carb foods immediately after any activity is for replenishing your glycogen stores. Adding our Maltodextrin to Whey Protein Isolate can help you personalize your recovery drink to be even more effective. Try mixing a serving or two into whatever other powdered supplements you choose to see if you notice a difference in how you recover. We are convinced you will notice the difference right away.
Endurance - Fuel for before, during and after training or racing
Maltodextrin is great nutrition any time of the day and for a variety of reasons. Taken pre workout, it can jump start you so you get the most out of your training while improving overall endurance. During exercise or competitions it can be sipped on to keep you from using all your glycogen stores. Post workout recovery drinks with corn Maltodextrin added can help you recover better than any other combination you have tried. As a tip, try adding a bit of our Dextrose to your recovery drink as well to add some sweetness and promote an insulin spike which has been shown to enhance recovery. Post workout is one time where a little simple sugar is ok.
Energy - A longer, slow burning energy source
As opposed to simple sugars, Maltodextrin is a long term energy source. Complex carbs burn slower so your energy level stays elevated and steady. If you have experienced the sugar high then the crash a short time later, you know what we are talking about. You can stop doing that to yourself by using complex carbohydrates for your fueling. You’ll have to break the addiction to that sugar high but once you do, it will be well worth it. People suffering from diabetes can typically use Maltodextrin powder with good results. If you suffer from this disease, consult your physician to see if they recommend Maltodextrin for you.
Active Lifestyle - Staying energized during your busy, hectic days
Living an active lifestyle often means running around trying to keep up with the kids activities. This can leave you depleted as you may forget to take care of yourself. Maltodextrin is a safe and effective supplement for the whole family. Be creative and mix your own sports drink for you and the kids. Even though they seem to be nuclear power plants with endless energy, they need good nutrition too. Do yourself and your family a favor by avoiding the popular drinks containing high fructose corn syrup, artificial coloring, and artificial sweeteners like sucralose, aspartame and Splenda. Maltodextrin from ProteinCo is a much better choice.

Q – What are carbs and how much do I need?
A – Carbohydrates in a nutshell are sugars. How much you need each day depends a lot on your activity level. Those who are more active can and should consume more calories per day from carbs than more sedentary people. Even complex carbohydrates should be consumed in minimal quantities unless you are fairly active.
Q – What is the difference between complex and simple sugars?
A – Simple sugars are monosaccharides and disaccharides. These are one and two chained carbohydrates. Complex carbs are those that are three chained or more. The big difference is simple sugars cause an immediate blood sugar spike and need more water to digest. Therefore, if you are diabetic or suffer from blood sugar issues, or you are dehydrated or low on fluids, you should avoid simple sugars completely.
